In 2009 I ran with a bull named Cappucino from the Jandilla ranch. He nearly gored me. A few seconds before I encountered him, Cappucino delivered a fatal goring to Daniel Jimeno Romero from Alcala de Henares. In 2013 I helped carry the dying body of Jon Jeronimo Mendoza to the surgery room in the bull arena. A massive pile up in the tunnel had crushed him to near death. The medics and doctors saved his life. He ended up on a respirator and when they were preparing to pull the plug, he miraculously awoke and survived. A bull named Brevito gored me twice in the thigh in 2014, the horn brushed my femoral artery, if it had severed it, I would have likely bled to death. In 2017 a bull named Sentido gored me in the butt. I was able to return to run two days later but weeks later I fell severely ill with an infection and mysterious pain. For a while there I thought I was dying. So, that’s my short answer, what was your experience with danger on the streets of Pamplona? And if you are going to run with the bulls for the first time, please be aware this is an extremely dangerous past time. But we are here to help you avoid the obvious danger as much as possible.
